At what point in the adoption process does adopter data go to Hill's?

Automated reporting is triggered when a pet is outcomed as adopted in your shelter management software. There is no additional step required once your integration is fully set up and confirmed live.

How automated reporting works

Once your shelter is connected and reporting is active:

  • Adoption data is automatically pulled when a pet is outcomed as adopted

  • Required adopter details and adoption totals are sent securely to the appropriate partner program (such as Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love)

  • Reporting runs in the background—no manual uploads or spreadsheets needed. Note: Since this is a background task, you will not see this data in the Hill's portal. 


Common things to double-check

If data isn’t flowing as expected, check that:

  • Pets are being outcomed specifically as adopted (not transferred or returned or foster-to-adopt)

  • Required adopter contact fields are being collected such as email 

  • Your shelter has received confirmation that automated reporting is active
