How do I read survey check-ins?

Understand each check-in icon, what the surveys ask, and how to see one adopter's full survey history.

Petszel sends your adopters check-in surveys at Day 1, Week 1, Months 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6, and Year 1. Each survey shows as an icon, so you can see how an adoption is going without opening anything.

Read a survey: click any filled icon on the Adoptions List, a pet's profile or a pet parent's profile. Use the icons at the top of the survey window to move between check-ins.

What each survey asks

  • Day 1 to Month 2: overall adjustment (1 to 5), what's going well, any challenges, whether they've seen a vet, whether they'd like your shelter to follow up, and how and when to contact them.
  • Month 4: a short update on the pet, an optional photo, how likely they are to recommend your shelter (1 to 10), and what they'd like to learn more about.

See every survey from one adopter: open their pet parent profile and scroll to Survey History. Each pet they've adopted has its own row of check-in icons.

Photos adopters share show in the month 4 survey, where you can download them.

Tip: when a survey comes back All Good, send a thank you so the adopter knows someone read it.
