How do I set a triage status and assign follow-up?

Learn what the five triage statuses mean and how to change a status or assign a staff member.

Every pet has a triage status that tells your team where follow-up stands. Set it in one click from the Adoptions List, or a pet's profile and the change shows everywhere.

Change a triage status

  1. Click the pet's current status, on the Adoptions List or in the Triage section of its profile.
  2. Pick the new status.
  3. The triage date updates to today, and the list, and profile all show the change.

Assign follow-up

  1. Click the name or n/a under Assigned To, on the list or in the pet's Triage section.
  2. Pick a staff member.
  3. The assignment shows everywhere, and the Assigned Staff filter picks it up.

A simple routine: when a survey asks for follow-up, set the pet to Needs Contact and assign someone. After reaching out, set it to Waiting on them, then Closed once it's resolved. How your team uses each status is up to your shelter's process.
