How Hill's Food Shelter Love Automated Reporting and Post-Adoption Services Differ

Hill’s Automated Reporting (HFSL Program)

What it is:
Hill’s Automated Reporting is a data-only service that replaces the manual reporting shelters currently do for the Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love (HFSL) program.

What it does:

  • Automatically submits required weekly adopter data and monthly adoption totals to Hill’s

  • Ensures reporting is accurate, compliant, and on time

  • Eliminates spreadsheets, uploads, and manual tracking

What it does not do:

  • It does not communicate with adopters

  • It does not provide post-adoption support, education, or messaging

  • It does not change your participation in HFSL—it only automates the reporting

Signup process:

  • Requires a separate HFSL reporting signup

  • Collects Hill’s-specific identifiers (SAP / Sold-To numbers, consent method, shelter software details)

  • Once completed, reporting runs automatically in the background

Petszel Post-Adoption

What it is:
Petszel Post-Adoption is a free, adopter-facing service for shelters that supports adopters after they leave your shelter.

What it does:

  • Delivers shelter-branded guidance and resources to adopters

  • Extends your shelter’s care and voice beyond adoption day

  • Helps reduce returns and post-adoption confusion

  • Connects adopters to shelter-approved partner resources 

What it does not do:

  • It does not handle Hill’s reporting requirements

  • It does not replace your shelter software or contracts

  • It does not require participation in HFSL

Signup process:

  • Separate from Hill’s reporting

  • Optional and shelter-initiated

How they’re related (and how they’re not)

  • Petszel is the technical partner enabling Hill’s automated reporting

  • Petszel also offers post-adoption support, but that product is optional and separate

  • A shelter can:

    • Use Hill’s Automated Reporting only

    • Use Petszel Post-Adoption only

    • Use both

  • Signing up for one does not automatically enroll you in the other
